Remote Volunteer Opportunities - Deafblind UK

Telephone Befriender

Deafblind UK members have combined sight and hearing loss and many live alone with few family and friends around them.

Could you help support members who would like to receive a weekly call from a friendly volunteer?

Making a regular call to one of the members could make a huge difference right now. So many live alone and having the opportunity to speak to another person can be of huge benefit to their general wellbeing.

Telephone Social Group Volunteer

Come and join the fun …. friendly, outgoing and welcoming volunteers needed to assist at regular online group meet ups.

Members really enjoy getting together having a good chat about all sorts of things and, at Deafblind UK, they hold regular meetings where members get together over the phone.

Could you give an hour or more at a regular time, once a fortnight, to help connect  members (many of whom manage their sight and hearing loss alone)?

Dual sensory loss can be isolating and lonely, however getting people together to enjoy each other's company goes a long way to tackling this.

BSL Video Social Group Volunteer

Come and join the fun ….

Are you a BSL user or do you have BSL Skill Level 3 equivalent and are interested in volunteering? Then we may have the role for you!

The BSL video social groups are a fantastic way of providing  members with opportunities to make new friends in a relaxed accessible environment and is a way of making new friends for everyone involved.

No previous experience is required, but you do need to have a competent level of BSL.

You will need to know how to make video calls and to have your own computer or laptop with a camera.

The meetings last for one hour.  You will need to be available at a fixed time, once a fortnight, to host the group.
