Heritage Information & Ambassador Volunteer

 

The Heritage Venues Group are currently recruiting Heritage Information & Ambassador Volunteers (18+) to join them in enhancing the overall visitor experience across their unique, intricate and cultural heritage locations e.g St. Eugene's Cathedral, First Derry Blue Coat School Heritage Centre, St Columb's Cathedral.  Offering diverse experiences and stories this will be an exciting role for anyone interested in the intricate and cultural heritage of the North West.

Key duties include:

  • Providing information to visitors, volunteers answer questions about the site’s history, exhibits, and any other relevant information
  • Volunteers can help with research projects, including cataloguing artifacts, researching local history, or recording oral histories
  • Engaging with visitors and the community
  • Volunteers act as ambassadors for the site, helping to build a connection between the heritage and the community
  • Volunteers can assist with organising and running heritage-related events and workshops
  • Volunteers can help to protect and preserve heritage sites and artifacts, ensuring they are maintained for future generations

Supervision & Support:

Volunteer support and supervision are essential for a successful and positive volunteering experience.  At all times there will be a designated member of staff or lead volunteer available to guide, direct and support the Heritage Information & Ambassador Volunteer.
